Department of Art History
Art History is a discipline of the humanities that examines monuments of fine arts and discusses the external forms through which they were expressed, contents that left a mark on these works, and the environment in which they were created. Since Art History is, in its essence, a history of ideas that were given form through art, it is closely involved with other disciplines in the humanities, especially history, archaeology, philosophy, literary history, and sociology. This study programme qualifies graduates to work at public and private institutions that engage in the examination, propagation, research, and protection of art and other monuments, especially those of fine art. It also prepares students to work in tourism and pursue protocol activities.
