The course is divided into two units:
a) French-Slovene Contrastive Grammar Lectures and Seminar
b) French Language and Text Formation
French-Slovene Contrastive Grammar Lectures and Seminar:
Students extend the grammar knowledge from the previous 4 semesters of French grammar with contrastive grammar of French and Slovene. The stress is put on syntax and textual
grammar. They gain familiarity with the translation-relevant contrastive analysis methods and topics: syntax of the clause, compound clause, coordination, subordination. Expression of semantic relations within the sentence: temporal, causal, concessive, conditional, final clauses and related semantic relations. Elements of textual grammar in French and Slovene, connectives, anaphora.
French Language and Text Formation:
Students develop their skills in oral and written expression techniques. They deal with a series of topics which help them build up their topic- related vocabulary and take into account
different registers of French language. They enrich their vocabulary and according to discourse types apply different syntactic structures they got familiar with during the lectures. Additional emphasis will be put on rewriting of different types of source texts as well as translation.
