The verb as a part of speech (morphological structure, multi-word verbs, auxiliary/lexical verbs, theta-role assignment).
The verb phrase (structure and clausal function).
The grammatical categories of the verb (person and number, aspect, mood, voice, transitivity and tense). Tutorial work includes tense formation practice, usage of tenses, analysis of tenses in various authentic texts with special focus on register variation and variation across Englishes, contrastive analysis of the usage of tenses in English and Slovene. Special attention is paid to structures that are problematic for Slovene users owing to negative transfer from Slovene (e.g. English progressive forms vs. Slovene imperfective, relative vs. absolute tenses).
