Definiton of concepts »ancient myth« and »European literature«.
Survey of the theories of myth from antiquity to modern times.
Genesis of myth: oral and written myth.
Shaping of central myths (concerning Odysseus, Prometheus, Sisyphus, Oedipus, Antigone, Medea, Orpheus, Narcissus etc.) in ancient (Greek epic, tragedy, Greek and Roman lyric), medieval and modern European literature (from medieval epic and morality play to modern novel, existentialist drama, modern lyric and essay); examples also from Slovene literature and other forms of art (painting, sculpture, music).
Ancient myth in modern culture (psychoanalysis, existentialism).
