The content is determined for each academic year separately, before the beginning of the academic year. The contents are different questions from contemporary Slovenian history history. These are issues of political, social, economic and cultural development of Slovenian history from 1918 onwards, which, where possible, are treated comparatively. The themes are set structurally, throughout the period of modern history. The following topics are discussed cyclically: Slovenes and Yugoslavism; Slovenes and democracy; Slovenes, neighbors and great powers; Modernizations among Slovenes. Occasionally, topics that represent political turning points (the First World War, the Second World War, the disintegration of Yugoslavia and independence, an independent Slovenian state) are discussed at an in-depth level.
An integral part of the course is a seminar conducted by students and defended at a joint presentation.
