Exploring the emergence of modernism in British poetry and its development in the first half of the twentieth century.
Analysing the connections between poetic form and poetic language on the one hand, and the changing concepts of cultural, national, and gender identities in the aftermath of World War II, on the other.
Studying the role of British poetry in influencing and responding to social and cultural change between two world wars as well as after 1945.
Exploring the influence of the visual arts on the development of British poetry especially at the beginning of the twentieth century, including the impact of new discoveries in the fields of psychology, philosophy and aesthetics.
Recognizing inter- and extratextual references and influences and their impact on the reception of literary works of art.
