• Zgodovinski pregled razvoja etnomuzikologije.
• Sodobni koncepti, teorije in metode.
• Poudarek na naslednjih etnomuzikoloških konceptih in teorijah: kritični pogled na zgodovino etnomuzikologije, etika raziskovanja, glasbena etnografija, glasba in pomen, rasa, etnija, spol, družbeni razred, ekonomija, poblagovljenje, globalizacija, diaspora, turizem, tehnologija, skupnost, konstrukcija avtentičnosti, pojem »world music«, etnomuzikologija popularne in zahodne umetniške glasbe.
• Odnos med glasbenim narodopisjem, primerjalno muzikologijo, in moderno etnomuzikologijo ter med etnomuzikološko prakso v Sloveniji in drugje po svetu.
• Etnomuzikologija in druge vede.
• Pomembni etnomuzikologi, ustanove, združenja in relevantna literatura na Slovenskem in drugje.
• Pot od terenskega raziskovanja do objave etnomuzikološkega prispevka.
• Uvod v etnokoreologijo in etnoorganologijo.
• Izbrane teme iz slovenske in svetovne etnomuzikološke prakse.
Del vaj (20 kontaktnih ur) poteka v obliki terenskih vaj, ki obsegajo obisk z glasbo in etnomuzikologijo povezanih inštitucij.
